IBADAN BOOK CLUB SET TO HOLD MAY READING TOMORROW

The Ibadan Book Club has announced that the May edition of its widely celebrated Ibadan Readers Roundtable will hold tomorrow, featuring three outstanding female authors in what promises to be an engaging literary gathering for readers, writers, and book enthusiasts in Ibadan and beyond.

The featured authors for the event are Evangelist Taiwo Oyelade, Joy Ogunleke, and Mohammed Maryam Tumininu, all of whom are expected to share their literary experiences through book readings and interactive discussions. The programme will also feature a book talk themed, “Why Every Writer Needs a Brand: Understanding Personal Branding for Writers.”

Scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 12:00 PM, the literary event will take place at the Event Hall of the Oyo State Library Board, opposite the iconic Cocoa House in Dugbe, Ibadan.

The Ibadan Readers Roundtable remains one of the flagship programmes of the Ibadan Book Club. Conceived as an interactive literary forum, the initiative continues to provide a dynamic platform where writers, readers, critics, publishers, and aspiring authors engage in conversations around books, creativity, publishing, and the evolving literary culture in Nigeria.

In a statement released to the press, Wole Adedoyin explained that the May edition reflects the Club’s ongoing commitment to promoting literary excellence, encouraging reading culture, and creating opportunities for both emerging and established writers to connect with readers and stakeholders within the literary industry. He noted that the theme of the programme is particularly relevant in today’s digital era where writers must intentionally build visibility, credibility, and meaningful engagement with audiences through personal branding and strategic storytelling.

The Ibadan Book Club also expressed appreciation to Dr. Awele Ilusanmi FANA, President of the Literary Authors Cooperative Multipurpose Society of Nigeria and Founder of Book Marketing Class Africa, for her unwavering monthly support toward the advancement of literary activities in Ibadan. The Club described her as a dependable pillar of encouragement whose consistent contributions over the past year have strengthened literary development and community engagement.

The invited guests bring diverse experiences and achievements to the Roundtable. Evangelist Taiwo Oyelade is a respected Christian writer, translator, editor, and English Language teacher whose works promote spiritual growth, moral values, and educational development. Joy Ogunleke, a young storyteller and passionate reader, is the author of Tade and the Lost Purse, a debut work that inspires children and young readers through lessons on honesty, kindness, and perseverance. Mohammed Maryam Tumininu, a multidisciplinary professional and founder of VAULTORA, combines literature, technology, and leadership to inspire innovation and transformation.

Through their diverse literary journeys and professional experiences, the three authors are expected to deliver insightful conversations and inspiring interactions that will enrich participants at the May edition of the Ibadan Readers Roundtable.
