Haa...mama Ada, the stream water is not clean as it used to be before... What do you think could be the problem? Mama Chinedu asked Ada's mum the moment they both returned from the stream.

Hmmmn... I have no idea either, maybe its because of the dry season. 

I can't even remember the last time it rained.

I miss those rainy days, tho.

Mama Ada says as she pours the bucket of water on her head into a mud jar outside the compound. 

We can still manage it to cook sha, "Mama Chinedu says with a sharp smile on her face.

They both watched how one of the neighbours tried to ignite the firewood. She had already clustered at the centre of a big earthern ware cooking stand, so she could start the cooking.

Ada's father , Mr Chike Otunba, stood at the grass side with one of his old wrappers tied across his shoulders to cover his body. He walks around the compound to inspect each activity while he continuously screws the chewing stick in his mouth like he was chewing carrot.
