THE WORD FOR TODAY: SEPARATE YOUR GOSPEL FROM THE GOSPEL- BY GREG ELKAN

_“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel.”_ – Mk 16:15.

As established earlier, the concept of “doctrine,” as used today in the sense of a doctrine of “prosperity,” of “Deliverance,” or of “Holiness,” etc., was foreign to the original Believers in the Early Church. To them, “doctrine” simply meant ‘teaching,’ and this is the sense in which the Bible uses it (Deu 32:2; Mat 7:28; 16:12; 22:33; Act 2:42; 5:28; 1Ti 1:3).

As far as the apostles were concerned, there was only one ‘doctrine,’ and that doctrine was the teaching of the gospel and the spiritual life that stemmed from it.

Human systems, however, tend to increase in complexity over time, and Bible teaching is no different. Over the course of centuries, various churches and movements have found reasons to extract certain truths from the Bible to address deficiencies in society or within the church itself. Such systems of theology eventually came to be called “Gospels” as well.

We must not confuse these two concepts, however. The Gospel, the ‘good news’ that our Lord asked us to preach, is the message of forgiveness of sins through Christ Jesus (Mar 4:12; Act 5:31; 13:38; 26:18). Every other so-called ‘Gospel’ – though they may contain ‘Gospel’ words – must not be preached _as_ the Gospel.

AMEN
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
