JEREMIAD ON ROMANCE: "HOLD YOUR PEACE"
When we should share memories
You shun me
Shun my feelings
Shun my smiles
Shun my efforts
Shun all that I represent
You admired me from a far
You tell people about me
About my efforts
About my success
About my guys
All in my absence
I struggled alone
You knew I missed you
You knew I long for you
And you knew I would want to hug you
But you vehemently opposed our togetherness
I know
I might be guilty
But you took it too far
And too personal
I wonder if you pray
Or call on God!
Just a warning,
When I leave here
Please hold your peace
And never let a drop of your tears out
You don't deserve
To wish me goodbye
The poet persona tells her spouse to hold unto himself for he has ignored and maltreated her when she showed passion to him.
