'PROPHECY AND ARCHEOLOGY' BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN.

_ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God…_ – 2Ti 3:16

PROPHECIES-
A major indicator of the Bible’s inspiration is its prophetic nature; its writers uncannily wrote of events centuries and even millennia before they occurred.

Most books in the Bible have prophetic declarations, especially with respect to the coming Messiah. There are several _hundreds_ of prophecies concerning the birth, life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus in the Old Testament; some written over a thousand years beforehand.

It has been estimated that the probability of just 8 of such prophecies being fulfilled in one person was 1 in 100 quadrillion – which is analogous to wining a billion-dollar lottery 330 _million_ times in a row! (Remember, this calculation is just for _eight_ prophecies, not the actual hundreds that perfectly predicted Jesus’ life).

Apart from the Christ, the Bible authors also made predictions about secular events. In fact, the Book of Daniel’s descriptions about upcoming successive world empires were so precise and exact that many sceptics contended that it could only have been written _after_ the events occurred.

*Archaeological Evidences*
The Bible is a book of faith; nevertheless it weaves its doctrine around the life stories of real people, and real historical events. This makes it – much more than most religious texts – easily disprovable. All one needs to refute the Bible’s message is to show that the people and events it claimed to be real never existed and never occurred. Nevertheless, archaeological findings from the Middle East – arguably the most excavated region in the world – rather than refute the biblical record only go further to validate it.

Along with prophecy and archaeology can also be added the _prescient scientific knowledge_ of the writers in describing physical phenomena that remained unknown for millennia before being confirmed by modern science.

AMEN.
GREG ELKAN.
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
