SATIRE: "CALL THE COPS WHEN YOU SEE NEVADA!" BY GODSON OSARENREN

"Have you ever been hated?
Or discriminated against?
I have!
I have been protested,
And demonstrated against."

At the tender age of three.
My skills were a threat,
My brilliance, a burden,
My feet a language so poetically misunderstood.

On the pitch,
I am a demigod,
A nightmare,
That sent many kids home crying.
I am the storm their little dreams could not outrun.

Call the cops when you see Nevada!
As though talent were a felony,
As though excellence were contrabands.

Wiwon! Wiwon!
The cops came in,
To walk a 3 year old out of the pitch.
Like a common thief.

Indeed, the Free World is in chains,
Forget the statue.
The Natives daily watch legal aliens,
Fight over what they never truly own.

Oh, Nevada!
Never say never!
The greatest tragedy of freedom
Is to be fooled by the wings.

“Call The COPS When You See NEVADA!” by Godson Osarenren is a satirical social-protest poem that exposes the absurdity of suppressing exceptional talent through jealousy, discrimination, and abuse of authority. Through the story of a gifted three-year-old footballer whose brilliance intimidates other children, the poet criticises a society that treats excellence as a threat rather than an achievement. The poem extends this experience into a broader reflection on freedom, power, and exclusion, questioning the sincerity of societies that claim to uphold liberty while restricting others. Ultimately, it warns that beneath the appearance of freedom may lie systems that punish those who dare to stand out.
