DIDACTIC: "OVER YOUR DEAD BODY" BY AWELE ILUSANMI

You watched as raw rice was put on the fire - boiled for everyone to eat and be satisfied 

But you said over your dead body.

You watched as God Almighty miraculously made rain fall from the sky.

The plants grew, full green and fresh,  

Yet you said over your dead body.

Goliath troubled the Isrealites. No peace.

No one could sleep or be happy. He said over his dead body yet David became a king and Isrealites rejoiced.

Joseph's brothers hated him, they were jealous of his dreams, planned against him, sold him away into slavery and said over their dead bodies but God Almighty made him successful and became their savior.

Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ, hung himself and died.

Over his dead body, Jesus Christ rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of God Almighty.

Evil thinker, before you say over your dead body to the will of God Almighty, remember that there is indeed a God that rules in the affairs of men.

No weapon formed against the anointed shall prosper.

Any tongue that rises up against the beloved of God is condermed.

Over your dead body shall your evil thoughts be.

(A Poem for anyone with evil thoughts against the anointed)

The poem emphasizes that no human being can stop the will and purpose of God. Through examples from everyday life and biblical accounts—including David's victory over Goliath, Joseph's rise from slavery to leadership despite his brothers' betrayal, and Jesus Christ's resurrection despite Judas' betrayal—it demonstrates that those who oppose God's plans ultimately fail. The repeated phrase "over your dead body" symbolizes the futile resistance of evil-minded people against divine purpose. The poem concludes by reminding readers that God is sovereign over human affairs, protects His people, and ensures that every evil plan against them will come to nothing.
