DIDACTIC: "LUSTRATION IN INK" BY SOMDATTA MITRA.
In deep sensitivity and pride ,
As I dip my pen into the ink of a cynosure .
I deeply sketch the verdure of our beautiful earth ,
The meadows that turn my thoughts to a reverie.
In those sunflowers where I derive my strength and motivation ,
I feel that clean environment is no more pure today.
With birds chirping and singing in a purity of bliss ,
Today feel estranged in the ecological imbalances of nature.
How can humans blessed with brains to educate ,
Pollute the environment that nurtures us like a boon ?
In the daily activities that breed defilement and waste ,
Yet nurturing the souls with reuse , revitalise and recycle - a clarion tune .
Let my ink become the patent ablution ,
let my words scour the stain .
To reclaim the earth's peaceful grace,
and let verdure reign.
Plastics drifts like a ghost army through the waters ,
Smoke tortures our vision like bruises on the sky's skin.
The earth gasps like a poisonous drink being inhaled ,
Into the lungs of nature , torturing our breath .
My ink continues to pour the lustration we lack ,
To connect to our conscience .
that nature is a gift , not a thing ,
that we can take back .
Mother nature ! Mother nature we all yell ,
With each voice we garland her beauty.
Do we really care ? Or mask our apathy with clamor ?

"Lustration in Ink" by Somdatta Mitra is an environmental poem that celebrates the beauty of nature while condemning the pollution and destruction caused by human activities. The poet urges people to protect the Earth through responsible actions such as reusing, recycling, and caring for the environment.
Using vivid imagery and symbolism, the poem presents the poet's words as a means of cleansing society's conscience and restoring nature's beauty. It ends with a challenge to humanity to prove its love for Mother Nature through action rather than empty words.
