LYRIC: "CONTRAST LIFE" BY FOLORUNSHO OBALUGEMO

Like the rich and royals she was born
Who in luxury have their dwelling,
And like the nobles of great means
Who are blessed with pleasant living;

But she lives in foul circumstances --
Partly nude, whose abode has been
At the city center, where she sleeps
And wakes and have her being.

The poem contrasts the privileged birth of a woman with the harsh reality of her present life. Although she was born into wealth and nobility, she now lives in poverty and hardship at the city center. The poem highlights the irony and tragedy of how life circumstances can sharply differ from one’s origins.
