..as we hold hands 

& walk through nights

on roads

where potholes can’t break our love,

& forests where even the leaves

are scared to touch our feelings.

..as we sail this ship of ours,

far from here to anywhere,

where our canoe will keep floating,

to places a sailor’s boat can’t reach,

where fishes don’t bite,

& crocodiles won’t envy us.

..as we take this love of ours

to visit places we love in movies,

to listen to tales of the pyramids,

to greet that tall captain in Anfield,

& to lands that speak in tongues

we do not understand.

Just walk with me,

and promise you will never leave me.

The poet persona tells his woman to take all steps with him. The voice says he would continue to love and cherish her no matter how jealous the world is over them. The bard only wants her to promise and keep the promise to always stand by him with sincere passion.
