It’s not about her,

that I still think of when she left;

but what she made me feel

when she promised to never leave;

the warmth I know is gone, as she left.

It’s not about her smile;

but how much joy I found there.

Not that I really miss her name;

but I miss my mouth

calling her name from my heart.

It’s not about her leaving

without saying goodbye;

but how long I wanted her to stay,

how long I wanted her with me,

how long I wanted us to love and live.

It’s not about her hands, nor her voice;

but the way they held my fears

and planted peace in my heart.

Not about the words she said;

but how I cherished her in my world.

It’s not about her;

it’s about love;

mine for her, that I found in her,

and still never left,

even when she did.
