GIVE TO CEASER WHAT BELONGS TO CEASER 1- BY DAVIES SEUN
In a typical rural settlement where an average number of people lived together, most especially in houses with thatched roofs, clustered around a popular marketplace, and a central spot. Is a popularly known community called the Otunba's,
The community was named after Ada's grandfather.
He was not only a king who ruled for so many years before he eventually grew old and died. He was also known for his generosity, his affection for children, and how he would summon the children to narrate beautiful moon light stories to them.
He was indeed a philanthropist. One very Saturday, the sun shunned differently in the blue dazzling sky, the air was fresh and scenting mint, the community dwellers buzzled in excitement, there were festive banners everywhere with decorated flowers too. That was a sign that Ada, the first daughter of the Otunba's family, is planning her traditional marriage .
All hands were on deck to ensure food preparations began, and all that needed to be put in place was done, too .
Two youthful, strong guys also volunteered to raise the big tent in Otunba's compound.
Some of the women with wrappers tied around their waist went to the stream to fetch water. Those who were so good with fetching firewood took a different path, too.
Some of her friends were busy packaging Ada's wedding gift.
In the course of doing this,
One of them clears her throat and then later voiced out
" i just hope their marriage would last. "Eve says sarcastically!
Haba, why would you say such ? One of them asked sadly
You are asking me bah...? I wonder what business a handsome man from the city has to do with a common girl from the village, let alone wanting to marry her.
The lady spoke out of jealousy.
"Ehn ehn, what if? And who says she is just a common girl? At least she is from a royal family, and you're not.
so stop making a fool of yourself. " Ngozi shunned
"Ada is one simple and humble girl I have ever known in this community."
Another says!
"She had never allowed pride to take her place,
In spite of her title ."
She continues .
"The title alone is a leverage for some girls to misbehave, you will see them suddenly grow wings or even arrogantly snub you when you greet them, sometimes, bully you and make you feel you are not worth their presence.
So please leave the innocent girl alone!"
She concludes.
And moreover, why are you gifting her when you know you are not really about her marriage? Ngozi questioned, giving a disgusting look.
(Keeps wrapping the gift)
Just like you said, we should leave the innocent girl alone , I will .
I will let go , so in other words, she deserves a gift from me .
(Says with a little frown on her face)
[This gift will surely cause disaster to her marriage.
Let's see how you will enjoy this marriage Ada-V/O-Vera thinks within]
She dashed a pretentious smile at the other girls.
Acting like everything is fine.
