"BONFIRE" BY MAURICE
You are the bonfire in the early evening
When the night is still young
And we are curious and uncertain
What to and what not to entertain
You are that blazing hope for the night
We were so hopeful it would end right
Kept each other warm in the new flame
And hoped the warmth would stay the same
You are that bonfire in the night
Shine bright, like the moonlight…
That the dark clouds my shy away
And your glaze is a promise of a bright day
You are that bonfire; so warm; so giving
Like a tight hug or warm mug; so relieving
You are like the dark night’s warmness
The promise of golden sun rays…
You are still so warm at dawn
Your flame never ash when night is gone
You still are the best part of nighttime
And still feel so sweet, at daytime
A rare sight, a ray of light; My my…
So bright, in day light; I sigh
You are the bonfire throughout my life
A pool of warmth and heart just dives…
