You can be criticized by anyone negatively.  Doing more or lesser than you does not really count, the proportion of knowledge, wisdom, and ignorance count

Doing better than you does not mean a pearl of better wisdom has done it. The thin line between the wise and the fool also reflect in how they criticize, and how they receive criticism. Please note that inadequate wisdom and knowledge will ensure negative criticism have a huge impact on you, and the wise people won't criticism you destructively, note that again.

As a matter of essence, anybody who  criticizes to create negative impressions is either not wise or lacks some developmental knowledge even if they do better than others.
