ROMANTICISM: 'ACADEMIC MADNESS' BY AJAKAYE STRIDA.
"Ogundeji Rokeebat!
Ajakaye Basirat!
Falomo Ameedat,
I won't call any name twice oh!"
Just imagine the market place in the academic 3 in 1,
with his voice swinging from bazz to jazz and blues in rhythm,
tired of discipline but angry at indiscipline.
This attendance is taken by him, himself,
with his head like a dirty river,
urine dripping down into his blue and black office top,
of course...
you fear imagining calling over 6000 young educationists,
just a man to call, same man to listen "present Sir".
To instill academic discipline
is to breathe legal madness into the lives of the young.
Academic Madness is to be tried of the stress,
but in love with the purpose of the stress.
I pray our breath will tell beautiful tales tomorrow.
RASHIDAT OLAMIDAYO AJAKAYE
STRIDA- Striking Ideas.
This poet personae narrates how a teacher marks the attendance of all students in a tertiary institution. He does this to necessitate discipline in his class but admits it is stressful. The poem centres on the strange ways of showing academic agility.
