I AM FOR PEACE- BY JIM KEMP.

_“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”_ – Mt 5.9

Work for peace! This is what Jesus taught. In order that there might be harmony in the home, it’s
necessary for each member of the family to work for peace. When children reach adolescence, it’s normal for them to have some differences of opinion with their parents. Young people have their own perspective on things and want to make their own choices. They may even stop listening to what their parents have to say.

If you are a young person, you need to know that it was God who chose your father and mother and gave them authority over you. They are there to teach you about life. That’s why it’s important that you live in harmony, in an atmosphere of cooperation, love, respect, and peace. It is very important that you obey them. At times you may think that it’s impossible to react positively. However, the Lord has given some creative and workable principles to help promote peace in the home.

• Recognize that you need your parents and that they are important to you. Obey them, even when it means letting go of your own rights. Submit, even when you think they are being unjust. If they are unbelievers, respect and care for them so that you might win them to Christ. Your behaviour as a peacemaker will cause them to respect you, and this will provide more opportunities to talk calmly with them about those areas where you disagree.
• Whenever necessary, ask your parents for forgiveness. Jesus taught us to do this. Swallow your pride and have a humble spirit. In Mt 5.24 it says, _“…go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother…”_

Young people have a tendency to be selfish and think that they are always right. But you know that isn’t always true. Try to look at things from your parents’ point of view. Try to understand them. Keep a humble spirit. Always work to maintain harmony in your home. Be for peace!

BLESSINGS
JIM KEMP.
