'YOU HAVE ENOUGH FAITH FOR YOUR MIRACLE'BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN.

Probably the most important ingredient in any miracle is faith – raw, aggressive and powerful faith. There is no limit to what you can achieve with faith. Our Lord famously said in Mk 9:23, _“If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.”_ 

Some well-meaning Bible scholars have combed through the Bible to crystallise out different kinds of faith. There’s “natural faith”, “measure of faith”. “growing faith”, “visible faith”, “little faith”, “weak faith”, etc. And of course, they’ll tell you the kind of faith you need for your miracle is “great faith”, or mustard-seed faith” (aka “mountain-moving faith”).  

The problem with these kinds of ‘faith theology’ is that they make you overly focussed on your faith; keeping you constantly worried whether you have enough faith for your miracle. 

But if we’re to analyse that famous mustard seed-faith passage (Mat 17:20), our Lord said, _“If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say unto this mountain, Remove from here to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”_ The mustard seeds are about 2mm in diameter. Jesus used them to describe faith because they were the smallest seeds known to the Jewish people. If they had orchid seeds, (which are more than 20 times _smaller_ than mustard seeds), He would have used them; because the emphasis of the analogy was on the _smallness_ of the faith you need for a miracle.

It is not your faith that is ‘doing’ the miracle; it is the God that you place your faith in. So, don’t sweat it. The more you worry whether you have enough faith, the less confident you become. But the less focus you place on your faith, and more on God and His love and mighty power, the more (ironically) your faith increases.
