DIDACTIC POEM- 'CIVILIZED MADNESS' BY AJAKAYE STRIDA.
Why did you arise from bed
to reply WhatsApp messages?
You did it! Yes you did this morning,
and the morning before today.
Just to have a slice of 'refinement of thoughts'.
You check your phone as clock checks time,
when you receive a lecture,
when you are in a meeting,
when you are cooking,
when you are reading,
when you are in the rest room...
why is the internet controlling your soul and spirit?
Look at your eyes Darling...
Clothed with black feathers and far from reality,
your eyes brows painted with artificial rainbow,
you sleep with it after the night club of casted courses,
then brows become horribly black if natural,
your nails like that of an humane tiger,
can you feed a baby with this?
So impossible to have the best of both worlds.
What are you doing with those silver chains,
wrapped around your legs and waist,
whereas your mother stomach is dinnerless.
Are you normal?
What a penetration of life by false means
you have become.
Building a castle in the air
before the result of hope is realised.
Youths of this generation
are soaked in the swamp of disrespect to elders,
you fail to take bags from a elder
because your mouth is painted,
or your crazy boyfriend is at a corner,
waiting for you.
You this boys and suckling men!
Why is your beard gold, orange and yellow?
Why do you smoke hemp, cigarette
to be a lion on bed?
Proclaiming your name about the field of wealth,
with your father's car,
with your insane currencies from internet monstering,
wearing shorts meant for pyjamas,
up and down with hands in your proud pocket,
dress well and stop wearing newspapers as shirts,
chasing the world of Darby and Joan
till you count countless murders of abortion,
you arise every morning with 'beat and iPhone'
'Ta lo so pe ko po ke?'
See...
nobody is saying it is bad to look at the sky,
work well to get an aeroplane,
and you will get there to.
I will not speak evil of civilization,
just speaking 'ad hominem' of civilization.
Live with a sensibly sweet style
and stop being a far cry from celebration.

STRIDA- Striking Ideas.
The bard chastises the attitudes of majority of the youths in the present generation. He tells them they need to offer the best to their society and cease from blaming the government for their reluctance to live a responsible life.
A very sensitive subject ...your choice of words paints a vivid picture of this societal ill @ AJAKAIYE STRIDA
