JEREMIAD- 'LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING' BY AJAKAYE STRIDA.

'Habeebatu!' her voice is the waves of beach at midnight,
she called her last child amongst six children,
'Maaaaa'
A mother so passionate as dew to weed,
'Maaaaa'
A mother so passionate as dew to weed,
frustrated as a blue fire,
committed as the journey of tears
upon a speechless, depressed cheek.

'Your father is a very very bad material,
he is a fake gold but glitters like diamond,
he takes life to make himself valuable,
he wishes he feeds you till death,
this is why my 4.3cgpa is under my brown wardrobe,
this is why my eyes are red as blood,
beaten to blood shed by your Amuniwaye and step siblings,
your father...
your father is a  mistake that tampers my happiness countless times,
every brand dawn is a brand strength,
your father is a good demon.
I bore the six of you for a man called 'your father'
because I am faithful.'

Her eyes fell of the sockets,
men of romance are wild,
and her father is the forest?
Habeebatu then asked her mother,
'Did my father rape you six times
for the six of us Iyaaami?'

RASHIDAT OLAMIDAYO AJAKAYE
STRIDA-Strikng Ideas.

The bard speaks of a woman who advises a child among her six children. She bores them for a man whom she admonishes the girl to stay far from because he is a terrible father. The poet persona drives humour with a provoking question the young lady askes her mother after harsh and sincere words against her father.
