Romancism(Jeremiad) ' IF LOVE IS A CRIME? '

If love was a crime,
I wouldn't have sold my heart to you.
If love was a crime,
I wouldn't have said you were mine.

If love was a crime ,
I wouldn't have hold your hands.
If love was a crime,
I wouldn't have you reading my mind.

If love was a crime,
I won't invite you into my life.
If love was a crime,
I wouldn't trace your lines.

If love was a crime,
I wouldn't accept your flaws,
and still hold on.
If love was a crime,
I wouldn't lean on your shoulders for a cry.

If love was a crime,
I wouldn't have loved you for whom you are
but for your possessions.

If love was a crime,
I won't try to make things right when they go wrong .
If love was a crime,
I won't be here despite your million wrongs.

If love was a crime,
I would have stood far away,
without a need to whisper.
If love was a crime,
I won't hold you tight!

If love was a crime,
I wouldn't say sorry,
To clear my wrongs.
If love was a crime,
I won't tell you my fears,
So you would take them off.

If love was a crime,
I won't bleed and still plead.
If love was a crime,
I would be lost in the desert!

You make love seem to me a crime,
you make things go wrong
when they actually want to go right.

You betrayed my little trust.
you increased my fears
and insecurities.
You played on my emotions,
not finding it worth to say sorry.

You believed your wrongs were rightful decisions.
I respected you but you sold mine cheaply.
I was proud of you
but you hid my name.

Hid my face
from the world to see.
You make me jealous of every other person
and was never treated any special.
You claimed to be different,
I hoped for the act
but found no difference.
Whatever will make me change is because I gave up on true love.

You have proved to me,
loving you was a crime.

Davids Seun.

This poet personae writes to a man who she loves, she tells him how much she wishes to justify the reality of love but he seems not to be reciprocating any to her.The two lines envoys go against her previous lines as she surrenders to the court of loves practicality since the man she desires makes love a criminal act.
