ANA CONGRATULATES COLONEL KOLAWOLE KAYODE SHAW (RTD) ON HIS BIRTHDAY_ BY ANA MEDIA TEAM
The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has congratulated Colonel Kolawole Kayode Shaw (Rtd) on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a distinguished Nigerian whose life and career have combined military leadership, entrepreneurship, literary development and humanitarian service.
The congratulatory message was contained in a press release jointly issued by the President of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Dr Usman Oladipo Akanbi, and the Acting General Secretary, Wole Adedoyin.
The association commended Colonel Shaw for the breadth of his contributions to national development and, particularly, his enduring support for Nigeria’s literary community.
A retired senior officer of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Shaw distinguished himself during his military career in housing and infrastructure development. He served as Director of the Army Post-Service Housing Directorate and later became the pioneer Managing Director of the Nigerian Army Post-Service Housing Development Company (PHDC), where he contributed to initiatives designed to provide sustainable housing solutions for military personnel. He retired from the Army in 2011.
Following his retirement, Colonel Shaw successfully established himself in the private sector as a real estate executive and developer. As Managing Director of Kolie Mobs Ventures Limited (KMVL), he has overseen major property development initiatives, bringing his experience in institutional management and infrastructure development into a new phase of enterprise and investment.
ANA particularly acknowledged Colonel Shaw’s historic role in the development of the Mamman Vatsa Writers’ Village in Mpape, Abuja, the national headquarters of the association. In 2012, under the leadership of then ANA President, Professor Remi Raji, KMVL entered into a partnership with ANA for the development of the association’s property. Under Colonel Shaw’s leadership, the formerly undeveloped site was transformed into a writers’ complex comprising the ANA National Secretariat, an auditorium, Hotel apartments and residential facilities for writers.
The association noted that the Writers’ Village has since become an important landmark for Nigeria’s literary community, providing writers with a permanent institutional home and creating space for literary activities, meetings, residencies and creative engagement.
ANA also commended Colonel Shaw’s continued commitment to humanitarian and community-oriented initiatives, describing his post-military career as a demonstration of how professional success can be channelled towards wider social impact.
ANA further congratulated Colonel Shaw on the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration conferred on him by the EuroKnowledge Institute in London in July 2026. The honour, which recognised his leadership, entrepreneurial accomplishments and humanitarian contributions, according to the association, adds another significant milestone to an already remarkable career.
ANA wished Colonel Shaw continued good health, fulfilment and greater accomplishments, while expressing appreciation for his enduring contribution to the development of Nigeria’s literary and cultural landscape.
