AJAKAYE STRIDA AT CITIZENS’ VOICE, VICTORIA ISLAND

It was a great privilege to take the story of AJAKAYE STRIDA to Citizens’ Voice, Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of activities marking our 8th Anniversary.

The interview gave us an opportunity to reflect on STRIDA’s journey since its establishment in 2018, our growth as a literary and academic community, and the vision that continues to drive the organisation.

We spoke about our anniversary theme, “Academic and Creative Writing for Employability,” and explored how writing can go beyond the classroom to develop knowledge, confidence, creativity, communication skills and opportunities that contribute to both individual and community development.

We also highlighted an important milestone in STRIDA’s growth—the establishment of our Board of Directors. This marks a significant step towards building a stronger, more structured and sustainable organisation. The Board brings together experienced individuals whose knowledge, expertise and perspectives will contribute to strategic direction, accountability and the long-term development of STRIDA.

Our vision is to build STRIDA beyond the efforts of one individual and create an organisation sustained by collective leadership, shared expertise and a committed community.

We sincerely appreciate Citizens’ Voice for giving us the platform to share our journey, vision and aspirations with a wider audience.

Eight years of writing. Eight years of growth. A stronger structure. A bigger vision. And the journey continues.
