THE BITTER TRUTH ABOUT GIVING UP_ BY ZUWAIRA HALILU
"Don't give up" is one of the most comforting pieces of advice we can give. It reminds us to stay hopeful, persevere, and believe that difficult seasons do not last forever.
But it is not a rule for every situation.
Some things are not meant to be carried forever. There are habits that destroy us, relationships that drain us, fears that hold us back, and dreams that no longer reflect who we are becoming. Holding on to them is not strength; sometimes, it is simply refusing to accept that it is time to move on.
The truth is, we often cling to things because we fear of letting go. We worry that walking away means we have failed, that starting over is too risky, or that others will judge our decision.
Yet, the day you let go of the wrong thing may be the day you make room for the right one. It may be the day you rediscover your peace, your purpose, and yourself.
Life requires both perseverance and discernment. Some things deserve your persistence, others deserve your release.
Wisdom is knowing the difference.
So, don't give up on yourself. Don't give up on hope. But don't be afraid to give up what no longer brings life, growth, or peace. Let go, not because you are weak, but because you have become wise enough to know that not everything is meant to stay.
Sometimes, the end of one chapter is not a loss. It is simply life making room for a better one.
