NARRATIVE: "RESUSCITATE ME" BY KELLY JUUZ
One early morning, I loved her'
Months gone by with wishes,
Dirty games we timely played'
Just like eggs and shells.
One early noon, we fought'
Like tiger and python, we did...
Forgiveness shut her doors to me,
Malice sheltered us, henceforth.
One early evening, satan came in'
With words we battled so high,
Neighbors did good mocking us
Shame hugged us till we iced.
One early night, love trespassed.
Our eyes crossed paths; but the hisses...
The intimacy was about, but failed!
And Silence played so many strings.
One early morning, we loved'
Very flammable and unbelievable
Though the tears came with cuddles
We thrusted so deeper and deeper.
On my stretch, I woke up!
Behold my priestess with a gun
Pointed towards me in bed
I fell back at asleep, like the dead.

"Resuscitate Me" narrates the emotional journey of a romantic relationship that evolves from deep love to painful conflict and eventual tragedy. The speaker recalls the early days of affection and shared happiness before disagreements, unforgiveness, and resentment gradually destroy the bond. As hostility grows, the couple becomes a source of public ridicule, while silence and emotional distance replace the intimacy they once enjoyed.
Despite their differences, love briefly rekindles, and the couple experiences a passionate reconciliation. However, this renewed affection is abruptly shattered by a disturbing climax in which the speaker awakens to find his beloved pointing a gun at him. The shocking ending symbolizes the complete breakdown of trust and the destructive consequences of unresolved conflicts in relationships. Overall, the poem highlights the fragile nature of love, the dangers of pride and unforgiveness, and how relationships can deteriorate into fear and devastation when communication and reconciliation fail.
