SPIRITUAL LYRIC: "THE MIRROR BEYOND SILENCE" BY SOMDATTA MITRA

Into the depths of my soul's mirror,
I behold a transparent, ineffable tranquillity,
Where neither war nor conflict,
Nor debate nor confrontation finds a dwelling.

No force seeks dominion there;
No fierce tempest nor horrific darkness prevails.
Instead, an aureate radiance
Illuminates the sanctuary of my heart.

In those moments, I encounter a lonely shadow,
Where every perplexity is transformed into divine radiance and innocence.
Like incense ascending towards heaven,
I breathe its sacred purity,
While silence wraps me in its compassionate embrace.

Again, a vision erupts before my soul, and I behold a cage,
Like a candle refusing to surrender to darkness.
Brilliant minds lie imprisoned within its fearsome cells,
Ingratitiating love songs for a solace.

Where effulgence is submerged,
 beneath the ashes of ignorance.
In the labyrinth of deception,
Myriad clouds of illusion envelop my vision.

An eclipse of egoism casts its spell ,
through the veil of prejudice.
The tides of despair surge,
Through the unseen dewdrops of human consciousness.

Where every uncertainty becomes an abyss,
And every apprehension a chain upon the soul.
Here philosophy is a surrender to the unknown ...
Where infinite whispers beckoning a new consciousness .

The poem reflects on the journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening through deep introspection. The speaker enters a realm of profound silence and inner peace, where conflict, fear, and darkness have no place. In this sacred space, the soul is illuminated by divine light, and silence becomes a source of comfort, purity, and renewal. The opening stanzas emphasize the transformative power of inner tranquillity and the possibility of finding hope and clarity within oneself.

The poem then contrasts this peaceful vision with the realities of the human condition, portraying a world imprisoned by ignorance, ego, prejudice, illusion, and despair. Through rich symbolism, the poet illustrates how these forces obscure truth and limit human consciousness. Ultimately, the poem conveys that true enlightenment comes from looking beyond outward distractions, surrendering to deeper wisdom, and embracing a higher state of awareness where fear gives way to understanding and spiritual freedom.
