DIDACTIC: "PEN REVIVAL" BY JOHN KELECHI UCHENNA UZOMA
I have picked up my pen,
Dusted it of all doubts;
Doubts of publishing costs;
Costs which worries the poor wallet'
That wallet of unmet wishes.
Professor, I have picked up my pen'
The pen of loaded ammunitions,
From the finest of its finest!
Ready to take you away
From inflicting fear on my likes.
I have picked up my pen, Dear Preacher'
To pen you off this world...
You have failed to encourage my thinkers,
You've made us look like lazy fellas,
Or is the Bible not the work of my likes?
Dear Parents, I have picked up my pen!
Allow me muse you with words
Crafted from the innermost part of me
Wrinkled with wisdom unclouded
Stop this attitude of pushing me to do you!
The word "TIREDNESS" is upto my neck now.
Oh Olivia, I have picked up my pen,
Let me paint you some sweetlines;
Sweetlines to ease your parental malady
The world would adore you:
An order Lucifer can't spurn at.
I have picked up my pen, again!
Oh heaven and hades!
The spirit never died but slacked!
Now, the tempo will tremble minds
Bringing "PEACE" is the golden goal.

The poem "Pen Revival" celebrates the rebirth of a writer's creative voice after a period of doubt and silence. The poet declares a renewed commitment to writing despite challenges such as financial constraints, discouragement from authority figures, and societal pressures. Addressing professors, preachers, parents, and a loved one named Olivia, the speaker uses the pen as a symbol of truth, resistance, comfort, and hope. By the end of the poem, the writer affirms that the creative spirit has only been dormant—not dead—and that the ultimate purpose of this revived passion is to inspire positive change and bring peace to the world.
