ANA HOLDS 2026 AUTHORS’ GROOVE TODAY AT NIBF

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) will today, Thursday, May 14, 2026, host the 2026 edition of the Authors’ Groove as part of activities at the Nigeria International Book Fair.

The event is scheduled to hold from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cinema Hall II of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts.

This year’s edition, themed “Reconstructing Civilisation Through Books,” will feature a special panel discussion and presentations by distinguished personalities within Nigeria’s literary and publishing ecosystem.

The session is expected to explore the role of literature in shaping social values, preserving cultural heritage, promoting intellectual engagement, and advancing national development through books and reading culture.

The Authors’ Groove, one of the flagship events of the annual book fair, will bring together writers, publishers, academics, students, and literary enthusiasts for stimulating conversations on literature, creativity, readership development, and literary sustainability. Organizers say the programme is designed to create an interactive platform for meaningful engagement among stakeholders committed to strengthening literary culture in Nigeria and beyond.

The programme will be hosted under the leadership of Dr. Usman Oladipo Akanbi, who serves as Chief Host.

Featured panelists include Abiodun Babatunde, Chief Executive Officer of KT Publishers; Amarachukwu Chimeke, founder of Purple Shelves; Dr. Olusola Awelewa of the University of Lagos; and Oladele Awojobi of Lagos State University.
Also expected at the event is Dr. Olatunbosun Taofeek, who will serve as host, while discussions will be moderated by Nora Anya. According to the organizers, the lineup reflects a broad representation of voices across the literary community and promises rich perspectives on publishing, authorship, and literary engagement.

Beyond the panel session, the Authors’ Groove will also feature book exhibitions, signing sessions, networking opportunities, cultural displays, and literary conversations aimed at deepening appreciation for books and creative expression.

Participants are expected to engage in conversations around the future of literature and the importance of sustaining a vibrant reading culture.

Throughout the duration of the fair, ANA will also maintain an exhibition stand where daily literary clinics for aspiring writers will be held, alongside the display of notable publications by members and guest authors.

The Nigeria Book Fair Trust, organizers of the fair and a body in which ANA serves as a council member and constituent organization, continues to provide a significant platform for literary exchange and cultural engagement.

ANA has encouraged members, literary stakeholders, students, and lovers of books in and around Lagos to attend the Authors’ Groove and actively participate in the ongoing activities at the fairground.
