REFLECTIVE: "THE SCIENCE OF THE VALLEY" BY MAURICE N CHIADZWA

For I needed to learn growth
I needed to know what the top is worth...
When we visit the bottom
Life begins to grow and blossom
In the damp moist of washed off water
Drinking from below those who're greater
Learning the tricks of the game
Before the top, before the fame
Before hunting the mountain top's game
There is need to plant gardens
And the green only grows in lower havens
I needed to work with my own two hands
Before giving off the next person the chance

I needed to build a system
That would sustain the top's style and rhythm
Because without the bottom, there's no top
A climb without foundation will drop
And skill and resources needed to climb high

Is only found in those with a will to fly
The desire for the top, the seemingly Heavenly
Is only of value to those in the valley
So I needed the valley to make sure my tomorrow was sustained
And the valley to make me appreciate the top of the mountain

This poem explores the idea that true growth and success come from understanding and appreciating one's roots and foundations. The speaker reflects on their journey, realizing that the "valley" - a symbol of humility and the foundation - is essential to reaching the "top" - a symbol of success and fame. The poem emphasizes the importance of hard work, building a strong foundation, and recognizing the value of those who support us from below. The speaker acknowledges that without the valley, there would be no top, and that true greatness is achieved by those who are willing to learn, grow, and appreciate their beginnings.
