GHAZAL: "FINGERPRINT OF PAIN" BY MYLES

They say, "Valentine's slaps differently" for it leaves you in love...
As for me, it slaps leaving the fingerprints on my face;
While my heart bleeds out in pain, for the clotting system has failed..
I get too salty on this day, for my tears flow back inwards!
A loner I was born to be, my destiny it's...
I horrify love to appoint it freaks out at my sight.
Will love ever locate me or am I invisible to it?
I give others sugarcoated words to brighten their day, while mine shutters right on my face!
I'm tired of being a loner, I need to feel love, love and beloved in return...

The poem expresses the speaker’s deep loneliness and emotional pain during Valentine’s Day, contrasting society’s celebration of love with their personal sense of rejection. Through imagery of physical “fingerprints,” inward tears, and a failing “clotting system,” the speaker portrays heartbreak as both emotional and bodily suffering. Ultimately, the poem reveals a longing to be loved and seen, rather than remaining invisible and alone.
