ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE ELECTION OF PROFESSOR SIMEON ADETUNJI DOSUNMU AS PRESIDENT, ASSOCIATION OF SOCIOLOGISTS OF EDUCATION, NIGERIA

Esteemed Colleagues,

Distinguished Members of the Faculty of Education Community,

It is with great pride and profound joy that I announce the election of our own Professor Simeon Adetunji DOSUNMU of the Department of Educational Foundations and Counseling Psychology as the President of the Association of Sociologists of Education, Nigeria (ASEN).

Professor Dosunmu was elected unopposed on Thursday, 20 November 2025, during the Association’s National Conference held in Lokoja, Kogi State—a clear testament to the confidence, respect, and admiration the national community of sociologists of education has for his scholarship, leadership, and integrity.

This remarkable achievement brings honour not only to Professor Dosunmu as a distinguished scholar in the field, but also to the Faculty of Education and Lagos State University, which continue to shine through the excellence of our staff.

On behalf of the entire Faculty, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to Professor Dosunmu. We are confident that he will lead ASEN with vision, purpose, and distinction, further advancing discourse, research, and practice in the sociology of education across Nigeria.
