"ONLY A FREE MAN CAN SEE" BY SULAIMON KHALID
Only the hand not hung by chains
Can dream of dancing in the rain.
Only the head that’s not in a cage
Can dream of standing on a grand stage.
Only the heart not captured by pain
Can beat with hope again and again.
Only the mouth not sealed by lock
Can sing of victory and of luck.
Only the eyes not robbed of sight
Can see and tell what’s truly right.
Only the feet that aren’t tied down
Can walk with purpose at the dawn.
For life to bloom and truly rise,
We need justice; one that never dies;
Hands not designed by chains,
And hearts not caged in pain.
We need freedom in action, not word;
For only a free man can sail the world.
We need justice to be strong and free;
Then we’ll live free life meant to see.

The poet persona uses a sharp rhyme scheme to give possibilities of conquering challenges. The bard submits that one does not only need freedom in word but also in action, justice and strength.
