DIDACTIC: "WHAT HAS TRUTH DONE TO US?"- BY SULAIMON KHALID
We run from it;
yet it has no feet to chase,
no hands to hold us back.
Still we fear it;
because it's called truth.
We hide from it
because it shows who we really are.
We stand against it
because it refuses to cover our shame.
We try to silence it;
forgetting it is a voice;
loud, unbroken, and bold.
We fear its words
because they speak
what we dare not hear.
We crown lies as king;
give him a throne of gold;
dress him in honour;
and let him lead us;
because we do not want truth
to strip us bare.
it does not grow old;
it does not eat;
does not drink;
does not decay;
it waits;
still and patient;
until we meet it
face to face.
And if lies have journeyed
for two long decades;
one day;
truth will meet them on the road.
Perhaps the real question is not;
“What has truth done to us?”
but;
“What have we done to truth?”

The poet persona teaches the undying reality of truth. No matter how human beings flea away from the truth with strange attitudes. The truth would always show itself honourably.
