ROMANCE: "A PING-PONG-BALL" BY BHATTACHARYA
A pair of shoes
is floating in the flood of blue
I call her, my last night's guest
and show her the shoes and the float.
She comes and rests her left hand
on my right shoulder
and drinks on wonder, looking at both,
obedient to some forgotten vow.
Noise of multi-racial modernity dancing here, there and all around.
Frightened of something wrong in the blue,
we two are praying to forge ourselves
into a ping-pong-ball-like now.
