JEREMIAD ON ROMANCE: "TEACH ME HOW TO LEAVE HER" BY KLYRICAL RHYMES
Teach me
how to silence the echo
of her name in rooms she’s never walked in
How to suffocate the sigh
that slips from my chest
every time I pass someone wearing her scent
Help me bury
the version of me that waits by phones
who still dreams in her language
who carves hope from shadows
and calls it love
Train my hands to be merciless
to strangle the memory of her laughter
until it stops sounding like salvation
To cut the string between heartbeats and her smile
and not flinch
when the silence follows
I want to unlove her
not hate, not forget
but detach like old roots from a tree
that no longer offers shade
Break me, if you must
Break the boy who believed in always
But build me again
this time with armor
instead of ache
Because I am tired
of loving someone
who forgot how to hold me
and only remembers
how to haunt
