JEREMIAD: "QUO VADIS, NIGERIA?" BY SULAIMON KHALID

Where are you headed, in this era of light?
Where are you running to, in this hour of night?
Where, to land of our promise, or the one of strife?

Your people are now cryers, days and night,
Calling for life of peace, and justice.
Your children are out there, awaiting
The horn of hope.

Quo Vadis, Nigeria, at this moment of time?
Where are we headed, as a nation, as a people, as one?
Is it into a new dawn, or to pick again,
Our unfinished pain of last dawn?

Nigeria, your boat, is it sailing to a fruitful land,
Or to the desert?
Nigeria, when will corruption make way,
And deceit become story of yesterday?

Quo Vadis, Nigeria?
Is it to bring our long-called change
Or forever be undone?

Quo Vadis, Nigeria?
The future waits, the yet to grow wail,
The world watches, as you move your anchor.
