DIDACTIC: "MORE LOVE, LESS EGO" BY SULAIMON KHALID
In the heart, where through love flows,
And in skull, where beautiful moments roam,
Ego has no home to reside,
Ego has no brain, to take as ride.
In the cerebral sea, where thoughts of love sail free,
Even without ship or boat,
Ego has nowhere to go, nor anchor to hold.
In a land, where love holds the face,
Love turns to mountains, while ego turns to flood,
That comes and goes with rain.
In the forest of the heart, where trees that carry love stand tall,
Ego weeds wither, as it lay on the sand, dead.
Where love's sunshine walks on ground,
Ego becomes a stagnant water outside,
That will surely dry.
When there's love, ego becomes thread
That are turned and burned.

The poet persona says humans should allow love to exist between one another. The voice of the poem sees negative products in excessive pride. Thus, humans should learn to support one another for mutual self-fulfilment and societal development.
