"PURGING LIGHT" BY ABDULMALIK YAHYA

I wish yesterday were a replay,
But let’s talk about today.
Lord, forgive me for my sins;
I know You still believe in me.

I never meant to be mean,
But everybody knew me.
As long as You reign,
I know You’ll still shower me with gain.

Today is filled with pages,
Flipped through ages…
I thank You for today,
Tomorrow is a canvas, undressing.
Your blessings have taught me lessons,
Lord, forgive me for my sins;
Never again will I lose my way.

Heaven’s gates swing open,
Forgiveness is our hoping.
Humanity is wounded,
Our voices, prayer-rooted.

Wash away our pain, O rain,
While You shower us with love’s toil.
Perhaps this drought is Your route,
Guiding us toward Your sprout.

I wonder how my sins
Cloaked me from Your light.
Yet now, the chill wind blows upon us
The spirit of delight.
