MISTHOLOGY IS GOD'S PREROGATIVE- BY GREG ELKAN

_“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with Me...”_ – Rev 22:12

[CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY]

Our Lord’s proverbial reply to Peter’s question about rewards in Heaven was a subtle reminder to the eager apostle – and by extension, to us as well – that misthology, the whole economy of rewards and punishment, is God’s prerogative, not ours.

Some Christians today strut around, completely ‘sure’ of what their reward will be like when they get to Heaven, while others are ‘positive’ about what others will receive.

Our Lord, however, wants us to know that the realm of rewards is His to control, and it is He who determines who will be rewarded and with what.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with expecting God to reward you for your life of service to Him while on Earth; after all, it was He who promised to reward our works (Rev 22:12). Nevertheless, we must live with total submission to His wisdom and grace.

Besides, He, having an omniscient perspective of how every Believer’s work complements and supplements those of others – even though they may not be aware of each other’s existence – is rightly positioned to determine the level of rewards we each deserve. You only know of what you did for God, you do not know of the other whose labour made what you did possible.

So, on Judgment Day, do not plan to question God's reward to your brother or sister because you feel that you laboured more than they did while on Earth. As He said in the parable, _“Take what is yours, and go your way;” your eye should not be evil because of (My) goodness"_ (Mat 20:14, 15).

Gratitude and worship must be our attitude toward the blessings God gives us; because, when you think of it, _“it is God who works in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure”_ (Php 2:13).

AMEN
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
