HOPE POEM: "IF I COULD GET THROUGH MY DARKEST HOURS..." BY SOLA OJEWUSI
In the depths where shadows dance,
Where hope seems lost in the abyss,
I walked alone through midnight's trance,
My heart weighed down by sorrow’s kiss.
Each step I took was fraught with pain,
A silent scream within my chest,
Yet through the tears like endless rain,
I held on tight, refused to rest.
When every star had lost its light,
And every dream had turned to dust,
I found the strength within my fight,
To rise again, because I must.
The night seemed endless, cold, and bleak,
But dawn, it came, a tender glow,
And in that light, no longer weak,
I saw the path that I should go.
So if you stand where I once stood,
In darkness deep, with weary soul,
Know that within you, bound in blood,
A fire burns, it keeps you whole.
And every breath feels like a war,
Believe me, love, the strength is there,
To conquer what you’re fighting for.
If I could get through my darkest hours,
And rise again from depths untold,
Then so can you, with all your powers,
Your heart is strong, your spirit bold.
The night will end, the dawn will break,
And you will find your way back home,
For every tear, a step you take,
To find the light, no more to roam.
So hold on tight, don’t let despair
Convince you that you cannot win,
For in your heart, the strength is there,
And you’ll find peace and joy again.
