"ALSO HAVE AN IDENTITY TO DISPLAY" BY SULAIMON KHALID

Though I might not have Wole Soyinka's same kind of hair
Nor be Chinua Achebe's writing peer
But I also have an identity to claim
And a face to bring to fame.

My words might not sparkle like Shakespeare's quill
Nor my words, change them, like Angelou's will
But my pen, seeking, will also stand
And I will build a humble palace with my gentle hand.

My style is unique and has its distinct face
In the literature hall, I have my gentle place
My words, I weave into a physical design
And with every line, I ensure that soul reaches depth divine.

My writings tell that I'm born from Africa's soul
And bathe in fusion of tradition, to heal the soul
Not mimicking paths, but creating my special way
And forever, to make my voice and story stay.
