DIDACTIC: "TODAY, I SPOKE TO THEM" BY AJAKAYE STRIDA

Today, I spoke to them,

I told them to save their glories via sexual discipline,

explaining to them as my mother did.

"You are in college to open your purse 

for your needs and wants,

and not to open your laps 

for your needs and wants."

Today, I spoke to them,

I told them to raise their heads moderately,

feeding them the needs to be smartly humble,

like the walking waters of the shore,

if they never moved back and forth,

would we call it 'tide'?

You are not babies to be taken advantage of!

Today, I spoke to them,

to read like woods in wild fire,

when the eyes are 

enriched by the productive pages,

the actions of hearts would regenerate productive minds.

Hence, not only value added unto you,

but also you adding value unto others.

Today, I spoke to young ladies!

The poet persona advises ladies to stay focused in hardwork. The voice admonishes ladies to avoid giving their bodies to men in return for personal or professional favours. Hence, women should be reasonably humble, extremely eager to enrich their minds to develop the society.
