NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER (NPD)
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a mental disorder characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, a deep need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. Common characteristics of a narcissist include:
1. Grandiosity: An exaggerated sense of self-importance and superiority.
2. Self-centeredness: Preoccupation with oneself, one's achievements, and one's problems.
3. Lack of empathy: Difficulty understanding and relating to others' feelings and needs.
4. Need for admiration: A craving for praise, attention, and admiration from others.
5. Sense of entitlement: Expecting special treatment and automatic compliance with one's expectations.
7. Envy and arrogance: Feeling envious of others' success and displaying arrogant behavior.
8. Lack of self-awareness: Difficulty recognizing one's own flaws and weaknesses.
9. Inability to handle criticism: Becoming defensive or even aggressive when confronted with criticism.
10. Manipulative behavior: Using charm, guilt, or coercion to influence others.
Keep in mind that everyone can exhibit some of these traits at times, but narcissists display them consistently and in a way that interferes with their relationships and daily life.
