_“Let your moderation be known unto all men.”_ – Php 4:5.
Have you ever had to make a decision between two equally favourable or appealing choices? For example, choosing between wealth and longevity? Or, in a more mundane scenario, struggling between vanilla and strawberry at your go-to ice cream shop?
For anyone stuck with such dilemmas, Mia Agraviador – the six-year-old meme sensation has some wise advice for you: _“Porque no los dos?”_
The Spanish catchphrase, “Porque no los dos?” comes from a mid-2000s TV ad for a hard and soft taco dinner kit. In the commercial, a family is shown spinning a taco wheel trying to decide between hard and soft shells. And in response, a 6-year-old girl replies, _“¿Por qué no los dos?”_ (“Why not both?”)
The image of the little girl shrugging her shoulders and asking _“¿Por qué no los dos?”_ has transcended its taco origins to become a popular meme; resonating with people in various aspects of life, from fashion and travel to entertainment, food, and even philosophy, as its universal appeal lies in its ability to apply to many real-life situations.
One group of people that also needs the _“¿Por qué no los dos?”_ touch, it seems, are Christians; particularly with respect to doctrine.
We have become so polarised in our doctrinal persuasions today that we’re getting to the point where the Venn diagram of Christianity would be one big circle surrounding several distinctly _non-overlapping_ circles of denominations, sects, groups, orders, persecutions, theologies, etc.
As established in an earlier series titled “Christian Anthology,” _Groupism_ is a universal flaw of human beings. And, while it would be unrealistic to expect everyone to believe the same thing, we cannot afford to get to the point where plain scriptural teachings are shunned or even ridiculed because it does not sit well with our ‘camp’ or because it is what the ‘other’ camp are known for.
Jesus did not die for a select group of people, the Holy Spirit does not have a favourite denomination, and ALL scripture is inspired of God, (Eph 4:5-6; 1Co 12:4-6; 2Ti 3:16).
Not every doctrine in the Bible has to be the subject of contention. Sometimes, when asked on which side you stand, you can mischievously reply, _“¿Por Qué No Los Dos?”_ 😊
(TO BE CONTINUED).
AMEN
More Blessings await you today; you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.
