"THE LOVE I WISH FOR" BY ADEAYO OGUNGBEMI
A love like this defies all reason,
Even death cannot stop its season,
For with each moment I'm still living,
The dream of love keeps me forgiving.
The windows of heaven stay open,
As my heart is no longer broken,
For love has brought me to paradise,
And no reaper can take my prize.
Love has given me a second sight,
Showing me the true meaning of light,
No longer do I dwell in darkness,
I'm lit by love's eternal sparkness.
Now I see beyond what's in front of me,
Love has given me eyes to see,
No longer am I blinded by fear,
Love has made my future crystal clear.
So when the reaper comes to claim me,
I'll greet him with love's fiery flame,
I'll tell him to get behind me
for this love is stronger than he is

The poet persona seems to have been able to decode the signs of sincere and unreal love. Thus, he enjoys peace now and stands ready to rebuke any unreal affection. The bard adresses fake love as a masculine, "he".
