DIDACTIC: "SON OF ADAM" BY YUSHAB ABOLORE

Son of Adam, hear my call,
Life is but a fleeting squall.
All you amass will soon depart,
Leaving just your noble heart.

Oh son of Adam, hear my plea,
Life is but a vanity.
All that you strive for in this world,
Will be left behind, as you are hurled.

Your wealth and riches, your pride and fame,
Will be left for someone else to claim.
Your children, your house, your car, your land,
Will be left behind, as you take your last stand.

Earthly riches, worldly fame,
Vanish all the same.
Your dazzling wealth, prestige and power,
Will all wither like a flower.

For every man must taste of death,
And leave behind his earthly wealth.
His treasures will be left behind,
For a stranger to hoard and find.

Your mansions, cars and private jets,
Will be left to those who place no bets.
On your treasures, they have no claim,
Their inheritance is not the same.

But if you spend your life doing good,
It'll be a legacy understood.
Your charity, love and sacrifice,
Will live on forever as a guide.

To those who follow in your steps,
Inspired by your every breath,
Your kindness, wisdom and compassion,
Will create a positive impact that can't be undone.

So why not indulge in good deeds,
And plant the seeds of love and peace.
For Allah says in the Holy Quran Though,
"Whoever comes with a good deed will be rewarded tenfold."
And in the Bible it is written,
"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it."

So let us strive to do good deeds,
And help those in need.
For when we leave this world behind,
Our good deeds will be our only find.

So, Son of Adam, hear my call,
As the darkness creeps and night falls,
Let your deeds be your lasting mark,
For that is the true wealth that leaves a lasting mark.

The poets persona exposes that materialism can be swept away after one's death. Yet, good deeds are the legacy that extolls one's name even after death. Wherefore, man should live by good deeds and not worldly possessions alone.
