DIDACTIC: "STRINGS: WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF US?" BY AJAKAYE STRIDA
The heavens mourn the increasing
Spirits of babies, children, youths...
arriving its territory like old age has come,
the land of many being drunk
by the fight for power of religion,
religious buildings becoming abattoirs,
as though they, created religion themselves,
religious discourses nagging evil 'gainst one another.
Fine, we have lamented the mishandling of lives,
properties, merriments... enough.
What about the rest of us?
What about the rest of us?
The rest of us can gather our feet,
to match towards the immortality of peace,
training our thoughts for societal significance,
scaling our might into environments
envision like a sparkling lamp
spreading into intense darkness.
What about the rest of us?
What about the rest of us?
The rest of us can walk and work to bring
peace into our homes, society, states,
even to the world,
through appropriation of religious aspirations,
by shamelessly embracing
policies with positive practices.
What about the rest of us?
What about the rest of us?
The rest of us can ring tolerance
into the soon generation,
we can catapult these issues,
challenges upon remedial trains,
as transparent transit for human development.
What about the rest of us?
Chickens and birds have wings
but the chickens have overfed the pride of their wings,
and so, the air reads them too heavy for minutes.
Excessive pride is an unrepentant enemy of religion,
if some dine in pride,
what about the rest of us?
When several societies
deforest the humanitarian sake of life,
"we" that lament,
are the "us" of the "rest of us".
The rest of us can string peace,
to live in the hearts of the weak world,
stringing differences towards multiplicities,
maybe just as the rainbow does.
Yes we, me and you!
We can be Strings of positive significance!
