THE CLOUD AND THE FIRE-BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN.

_He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night._ – Ps 105:39

The pillars of cloud and fire was one of several occurrences that marked the supernaturalness of the Israelites’ journeyings in their exodus from Egypt. It came from the moment the Israelites stepped out of Egypt, before they even reached the Red Sea. Ex 13:21,22 says _“the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them in the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light.”_

The pillar of cloud and fire were one and the same. There was not one pillar of cloud by day and then a pillar of fire by night; it was the same cloud at day that became fire at night (Ex 14:19,24; Nm 9:21). It was not a metaphorical or symbolic cloud or fire: they were literal; and it protected and guided the Israelites throughout their entire 40-year wanderings in the wilderness.

This pillar was a visible representation of the presence of God, and it remained with them all through their rare moments of faith, and through their many moments of doubts, murmurings, and flagrant unbelief.

Rom 15:4 says _“Whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”_ We have many truths to glean from this aspect of the exodus story; and one first takeaway is that God is always with you – even when it seems He’s not, or you forget He’s there.

This year, walk with that understanding. As Heb 13:5 assures, know that God will _“never leave you, nor forsake you.”_ He’s not like the moon that waxes and wanes, or the tides that ebb and flow; His face is ever radiant towards you, and because He’s for you, nothing can be against you, (Rom 8:31).

More glorious and miraculous blessings await you this year; my earnest prayer for you is that you’ll not miss them in Jesus’ Name.

AMEN...
