JUST LIKE THAT? BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN.

_But I fear, lest by any means…your minds should be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY that is in Christ._ – 2Co 11:3

One of the main issues some people have with the Gospel’s plan of salvation is its simplicity. To answer the question of _“What must I do to be saved?”_ with _“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.”_ (Act 16:30,31) appears too simple a solution for too complex a problem.

_“Just like that? I Believe and ALL my sins will be forgiven, I’ll be translated from the kingdom of darkness to God’s kingdom, I’ll receive a new spirit and my name will be written in the book of life?”_

Well... when we put it THAT way, the Gospel’s salvation plan does look a little too simple, doesn’t it?

But then, what is the alternative? Check this out: A report years ago on the state of the HIV/AIDS scourge in Africa showed that if the cure to HIV was drinking a cup of clean water every day, millions of Africans would still die!

Of course, in reality, HIV has no cure; it can only be managed through antiretroviral therapy: an expensive, complex cocktail of drugs. Though some donor agencies provide these drugs for free in Africa; bureaucracy, corruption and inefficiency still makes it hard for infected persons to get them.  Yet, research tells us that even if the solution to HIV was reduced to the _simplest_ level – a cup of clean water a day – millions would still die.

Now, HIV/AIDS is nothing compared to Sin. While HIV affects a tiny percent of the human population, Sin affects us all (Rom 3:23). But, as we have seen, if the solution to our sin problem was reduced to a cup of water, many would still perish. So, while the procurement of our salvation at the Cross was by no means easy, (1Pt 3:18), God in His infinite mercy made access to it simple. Not everyone has access to clean water, but everyone can believe.

_“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVES in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”_ (Jn 3:16)

So, the next time we’re tempted to think the salvation process is TOO simple, remember the implications if it was made any harder.

_“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”_ 2Co 9:15
