'STAY IN THE MIDDLE' BY PASTOR GREG ELKAN.

_Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand._ – Php 4:5

The problem of Theological Tensions is not so much their contradictory nature as much as it is the embracing of one aspect to the exclusion of the other. Extremism has been the cause of much of the Church’s problems. Even as individuals, the penchant for immoderation can be our bane.

I have come to realise that just about everything can be taken to the extreme. Whether it be prayer, faith, evangelism, grace, holiness... even PRAISE.

If you’re not careful, your zealous pursuit for noble spiritual activities may lead you to look down on other believers who are not so passionate and can even lead to a feeling of super-spirituality and pride.

Beloved, Satan will always look for a way to corrupt whatever positive exercise or revelation that you have in order to blunt its edge.

So what is the cure for extreme error? The Apostle Paul gives us an idea. He says, _“Let your moderation be known unto all men...”_ (Php 4:5). (“Moderation” here means, to be mild, patient, yielding, gentle, clement and unwilling to litigate or contend.)

That should be our reputation, not aggression and confrontation. If we get this right, then “Tensions” will only be in name, and not a source of strife in the Body of Christ and among Believers.

“The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” (Jas 3:17).

AMEN
GREG ELKAN.
