DRAMA- WHATSAPP CONVERSATION BY AJAKAYE STRIDA AND TZEBLON.

TEMITAYO: How do you compose your songs?

AFOLASHADE: I sing it as I compose and record each line on my book shelf so I wouldn't forget. I also listen to songs alike the kinds I compose.

TEMITAYO: Okay...

AFOLASHADE: And still...I love to deviate so I can create my own style.

TEMITAYO: Which comes first for you?
The melody or lyrics ?

AFOLASHADE: I use languages people can understand easily. The lyrics, this is because you can't just compose without having a message you want to give. It is now left to put the lyrics in enjoyable melodies Sir.

TEMITAYO: No...
I know you get the message first. I'm talking about creating a melody before writing it down.

AFOLASHADE: But song writers are different, just as historians have various stories and qinterpretations. So you can't really take this to be for everyone.

TEMITAYO: Yeah... Just asking though.. For me I create the melody before writing the lyrics. It's easier for me that way.

AFOLASHADE: Most times I have just a line I battle with to give backbones, till maybe a week after . Then I give it good skeleton. You see... We are different...

TEMITAYO Yeah... Sometimes I just listen to a recorded guitar play and I sing along with a melody

AFOLASHADE: Very through... I don't know if you know my song titled 'KEHINDE'; I had only Kehinde running through my head for almost a week before I could make good lyrics and enjoyable melodies Sir.

TEMITAYO: Yeah... But I haven't heard it the final production of it. I want to sing calm musics like the KEHINDE you sang.

AFOLASHADE: Fantastic... This is the beauty of Music. You know, I always believe you are just a Special Man.

TEMITAYO : 😅 Special. Thank you. I was writing a song yesterday... Titled- Mandy.

 AFOLASHADE: Good one.

TEMITAYO: But I wrote just the first verse... I don't know why but my verses most times are short... Then I make melodies to the guitar accompaniment. I just can't sing with the heavy beats stuffs... I prefer the guitar or piano.. a cool guitar play preferably.

AFOLASHADE: Then you sing like Sade Adu.

TEMITAYO: Sade Adu of Sweetest Taboo?

AFOLASHADE: Yes ...you sing like her then.

TEMITAYO: I know just one amongst her songs though.

AFOLASHADE: Download the song, Sweetest Taboo or Smooth Operator. You will see that most of her songs are covered with the enjoyable chorus and you dare not get tired of it.

TEMITAYO: I just listen to Johnny Drille, Chiké, Nonso Amadi. But I okay... I will begin to listen to her songs too.

AFOLASHADE: Please do this.

TEMITAYO: On it already.

AFOLASHADE: Nice ones you have too.

TEMITAYO: Especially Johnny Drille.

AFOLASHADE: Yes. You can listen to bangers of Olamide too. When you want to rest your mind before writing again. It makes inspiration fast and touching when you pen them down at times. I am speaking from experience.

Tayo... are you here?

TEMITAYO: Yeah..  I listen to all of them.
